MINISTRIES
Hospitality
Every Sunday following the Divine Liturgy (and on certain Great Feasts) we host a meal in the parish hall for parishioners and guests, consisting of a light meal and fellowship together. Once a month, there is an open “Ask the Priest” Q&A in the parish classroom, and quarterly updates from the clergy on the goings on in the parish.
If you are interested in joining our meal team, please contact James "Euphrosynos" Lambert.

Education Ministry
Holy Nativity offers education classes for all ages. We believe that catechism is a lifelong process of growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ. Our approach to education varies during the year according to our liturgical services.
If you want more information about the overall education ministry of Holy Nativity, please contact Anastasia Cosse.

Children's Ministry
God has blessed us with beautiful children at Holy Nativity. Each Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy, they gather for Sunday School. Their curriculum is normally focused on the Holy Scriptures and taught by a revolving group of volunteers.
Please contact Charis "Hannah" Delatte if you have any questions.
Youth Ministry
Youth are very important to us at Holy Nativity. We offer a special First Wednesday every month for them. They play games, attend vespers, and share a meal together. Our youth also enjoy various trips and outings during the year and gathering with the other Orthodox youth from St. George and St. Nicholas during the year.
To find out more about the Youth Ministry, contact Jereme "Chrysosotom" Jean.

Men's Ministry
The men at Holy Nativity like to eat. They often gather to offer up "Burnt Offerings" on the large grill owned by the church. They also gather weekly, usually on Fridays at Shanes on Youree for lunch. Also, they engage in book studies, bible studies, and help keep the grounds up at Nativity of the Lord monastery in Kemp, TX.
If you want to join the guys for any upcoming event, just show up or call Chris Adams or more information.
Women's Ministry
The women's ministry at Holy Nativity is under the patronage of St. Emelia. Our ladies gather during the month for book studies, meals, various themed parties, and other events. Many of our women bake prosphora and artoklasia for the weekly and Festal Divine services. They are always open to visitors and new people joining the ministry.
Please reach out to Saige "Euphemia" Solomon for more information.

Local "Sketes"
Holy Nativity is a regional Orthodox Church. In order to help all of our members realize a sense of community, we have "sketes" or house gatherings in Shreveport, Bossier, Natchitoches, and Camden, Arkansas. Each skete has a contact person that will help you connect to a small group. These groups meet once a month for prayer, food, and fellowship.
For more information, please contact Fr. Jason Foster
Burial Society
The St Tabitha Burial Society exists to promote and logistically execute burials that are faithful to the Orthodox tradition: no cremation, no embalming – a true Christian burial. The bodies of the departed are personally prepared for burial by volunteers from our community in imitation of our Lord Jesus Christ: they are washed, perfumed, wrapped in a shroud, put in a humble casket, transferred into the church, and Psalms are read over them in all-night vigil. The funeral service takes place in the church the following day, and then the body is processed to the place of repose where more prayers are said and they are committed to the earth.

Saint Moses Mart
In June of 2025, Holy Nativity purchased a building in the MLK Jr (Cooper Rd) area of Shreveport, LA formerly known as Lo-Mart. This 16,000 sqft space is under the patronage of St. Moses the Ethiopian and is currently being renovated into a food distribution center.
St Moses Mart will partner with the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank (NWLFB) in the distribution of over a projected 1,000,000 lbs of free food each year, offer Orthodox chapel services for the community, serve hot meals during the week, and provide educational and spiritual formation classes to children that live in the area.
At present, Holy Nativity works with the NWLFB in delivering food each month to a location in Mansfield, LA. If you would like more information or to help, please contact Natalia Adams or Father Jason.
Choir
The choir serves as the voice of the congregation, offering prayers and hymns on behalf of the people. The words we sing are filled with the teachings of the Church, so the music itself becomes a way we learn the faith.
The music used in Orthodox worship is not chosen casually, nor is it meant to be “performed.” Each hymn belongs to a specific part of the service or to a particular feast or season of the Church year. Many of these hymns are ancient and have been handed down unchanged, preserving the faith through melody and text.
Contact Presbytera Katherine to get involved.

Bookstore
Our bookstore is a small extension of the life of the Church. Here you’ll find Orthodox books for adults and children, prayer books, icons, incense, and gifts that support prayer in the home. Whether you are new to the Orthodox faith, visiting for the first time, or have been walking this path for many years, we hope this space helps nourish your faith and deepen your life in Christ.
Contact Jessica McCallon if you have questions.
Building & Grounds
We are blessed at Holy Nativity to have a beautiful property. It takes a lot of work to keep the equipment, building and 12 acres in good shape. During the summer, this ministry is extremely busy.
Stan "Eustace" McAllen oversees this ministry and is always recruiting more volunteers.
